What’s next?

I just cut myself on some broken glass when my favorite glass, my brooklyn brewery glass from Jen, broke in my hand.  Not a great week.  What’s next?

On Chicken Soup

For all the vegetarians out there (or semi veggie?) I tried making chicken soup without the chicken a few weeks ago by just using chicken broth and veggies.  It did NOT go well.  Definately did not have enough flavor without the extra chicken breasts.  I would recommend just using chicken and removing it if you don’t want to eat it, and feeding it to your dog or something.  Or you could just use chicken bullions maybe?  I may try that next time.

I made homemade chicken noodle soup for my sickie boyfriend on Monday. I think it did the trick because he’s feeling much better.
Now that I have started making chicken soup myself, I will never go back to any of the store bought varities. Homemade is so much better and it’s so easy. Here’s what I do:
-I use 32oz container of organic chicken stock (this is the only part of the recipe that’s not homemade, but I only use chicken breasts so I need to get a little extra flavor from somewhere - if you were to use a whole chicken, I think you could skip this part). Look at the ingredients and make sure everything is natural.
-32oz water - I fill that container up to make it exact
- 2 average sized onions - cut to preference
-3 celery stalks
-5 carrots, peeled and cut to preference
-3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
-Dill, as much as you want
-Salt and pepper to preference
I put all of these thing in a stock pot, and let them cook for 1-2 hours. It comes out so tasty, and is very easy.

This was especially amazing chicken soup and I am feeling better already.  Not that I wasn’t loving making court appearances with a fever.  Have to love small law.

My heart goes out to Boston.

Should we tax e-mails?

And the question always remains:  How on earth can we take more of other people’s money without them going absolutely apeshit crazy on us?

Google Glasses

I know I’m way behind on the tech curve, I don’t have an IPhone or a Blackberry or even a Smartphone of any kind.  But this sound pretty fuckin cool.

We went to Memphis Mae’s BBQ in Croton-on-Hudson this weekend.  It is kind of a hole in the wall.  Jen thought the food was okay with some things that were really good but I thought my whole meal was DELICIOUS.  The fried catfish sandwich was excellent, the BBQ wings were phenomenal, the coleslaw was really good, and the banana bites… out of this world.  These things are banana pudding with cinnamin and sugar fried and then you dip them in melted chocolate.  How could you possible go wrong with that?!?!  It was everything right.

Ryan and I try to take little adventures. Or go exploring. Usually something outside of the house and preferably something active/outdoorsy.

Last weekend we went to see this cool dam/gorge/waterfal. It was a chilly but beautifully sunny day. The first in what felt like a while. We walked around, took pictures, made a lot of jokes about horror movies when we were in a wooded secluded area, kissed, held hands, I wrapped my scarf around my head like a turban because I didn’t have a hat. We tried a new BBQ restaurant. I bought my first bicycle. We went for a bike ride.

It was a great day. Across the board. I can’t wait for our next Saturday together.

I could not believe that this looked exactly how it did on some really old pictures online.  It was a great experience and once again reaffirmed Jen and my love for Westchester.  We drove in at the bottom of the falls and hiked up a sidetrail and walked across the dam and bridge over the gorge.  It was pretty spectacular.

This weekend, I got my first bicycle. I think I mentioned that I learned to ride for the first time this year (a late bloomer…), but I always wanted to learn.
Ryan and I went biking on Saturday and Sunday, and I had a blast. I can’t wait until it gets warmer and we can spend more time on our bikes.

I taught Jen how to drive a car and now I am teaching her how to ride a bike. Thank God she has not fallen yet.  We rode on a trail yesterday over three miles.  The trail was 5 feet wide and paved with hills and other bikers and runners to dodge.  I don’t think she realized it but the ride back took us about half the time as the ride there because she improved that much in that amount of time.  I am looking forward to a summer of cycling.

And hopefully sailing too.

Day 2 Without Heat

No heat during the last blizzard.  Perfect timing.

Still trying to understand how we have hot water though…

I hope this doesn’t have anything to do with watching The Ring the other day.  I don’t think I can take 7 days without heat.
